Rennsport Systems  Performance Software

- Revised 4-05-07 -

Rennsport Systems offers GIAC performance chips for all Porsches built from 1984-onward. Performance enhancing software requires the use of 92 octane (pump) or better. We also make custom racing chips for racing gasoline applications that allow the maximum HP available from software.

The '96-'98 OBDII 993's are soldered in and the DME must be be sent to Rennsport Systems to have the new software installed.

997, 996, Boxster, Cayman and all 996-997 TT ECU’s are flashed.  The ECU can be sent in or the car driven to Rennsport Systems for this to be done while you wait.

96 993's must use a 97-98 DME. The 96' ones are not chippable if your DME is:        0.261.204.008 or 0.261.204.378

These DME's are specific to your car since the anti-theft immobilser is programmed into the Motronic Brain except for the 996 cars.

We are able to re-program the  all  996’s. all 997’s 993, 993 Twin-Turbo, 996 Twin-Turbo,  Boxsters, and Caymans. Please read below to see what others are available. Listed are US and non-US models that we support.

 996 DME 15-18 HP ('99.5-2001 Drive-by-wire ME7.x)
0.261.204.790 flash chip $1195
0.261.204.605 flash chip $995

Boxster & Boxster S DME 18-25+ HP program depending (all models) with a new 7300 RPM rev limiter-
0.261.204.605 flash chip $ 995- 1195
0.261.204.010 flash chip $ 995- 1195

993 DME 12-20+ HP program depending on fuel ('97-98 OBD-II):
0.261.204.376 flash $ 995
0.261.204.649 flash $ 995

993 DME 12-20+ HP program depending on fuel (95 OBD-I)   0.261.203.679; 0.261.203.674; 0.261.203.675 Socketed $500

993 DME 18-25+ HP Race gas only with stock or raised rev limiter (95 993 Cup Car)                                0.251.203.674 Socketed $ 800

  *************************************************

We can also update US programming to real European RS specs (the cars we did not get over here) or beyond. We leave the stock rev limiter alone given the weakness in the OEM rod bolts. If you install ARP, Raceware rod bolts, or aftermarket rods such as Pauter or Carrillo rods, GIAC can raise it anywhere you like. Full race versions and race-gas-only versions are available.

European RS 993 model DME (300HP std),
12-30+ HP program depending ('96-98)-

0.261.204.191 $1000
0.261.204.190 $1000

- 993 Twin-Turbo -

993 Twin-Turbo OBD-II:
Choose from Turbo S-package 430 HP, GT-2 480 HP, or 520 HP. These are 100% software controlled
0.261.204.377 flash $2500

Note - oil cooler must be updated with the addition of either a Turbo-S left side oil cooler or the larger Cargraphic one.

- 997 Twin Turbo –

Choose from 480 HP, 550 HP, 580 HP, and over 600 HP. 500+ HP must use hybrid or K-24 turbochargers and exhaust changes are necessary for those power levels. Power levels over 600 HP require uprated connecting rods for reliability.

******* Warranty Questions & Issues*******

One of the most frequent subjects that is brought up when talking about chipping a car are warranty concerns. Many people wish to know if installing a chip will void or affect the warranty. This is a very legitimate question and the last word on this will decided by the Manufacturer and Dealer.

Now,.......you have very specific rights granted by Federal Antitrust laws and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act that you must be aware of to keep from being "stonewalled" by a Dealer or Manufacturer.

Under Federal Antitrust Laws, the use of parts or accessories that were not purchased from and installed by the Dealer do not affect the vehicle's warranty. Manufacturer's and their authorized representatives, may not condition a warranty on the use of their own parts or service, unless the parts or service are provided free of charge. Also, they may not refuse to honor a warranty unless they can show that an aftermarket part or accessory is the cause of a particular malfunction otherwise covered by the warranty.

In other words, warranty coverage cannot be denied simply because such parts are present on the vehicle or have been used. The warranty coverage can be denied only if the aftermarket parts caused the malfunction or damage for which warranty coverage is sought. Normally, these issues boil down to facts and technical opinions, rather than interpretations of the law.

Any denials of warranty should be gotten in writing from the Dealer. The Dealer must describe both the failure and how they believe the aftermarket part is responsible.

SEMA's website has some useful information about this that can be found at http://www.sema.org/warranty/
