3.9L vs. re-gear

Is it crazy to start thinking about doing a Weiner 3.9L build during the process of researching a transmission re-gear on a 3.6L stock engine? Obviously the 3.9L will be more expensive, but price aside, what's a better route? Reliability equal between a 3.9L with stock gearing vs. 3.6L with a close ratio gearbox? Which elicits better mid-life crisis satisfaction between the two? Maybe only Steve knows how to answer this since I imagine the pool of people who have done both is very very very small! Just my random thoughts and questions this Tuesday morning...
