Track day noise choices - Decat OR G pipe?

Postby eean » Tue Feb 12, 2013 2:12 pm

Bonjour,

Steve, I know you tend to favour secondary "G" (or "J") pipes over primary/Cup bypass pipes, for most of us, who drive our 911's on the road.

This enquiry pertains to your prefered choice, if you had to choose between a cat bypass and a "G" pipe?

My concern for some trackday use, both near and far (eg UK), is that with both in place, I would exceed local static and drive-by noise tests.

Any thoughts?

Best ~

Hi,

For maximum performance (and torque) on those track days, use the cat bypass & G-pipe together.

For road use where noise will be an issue, keep the secondary muffler and run the cat bypass.

So it's the stock cat that's the weak link in the 964 exhaust, Steve?
