Smokes When Idling

Just purchased a 90 964 C2 in March (75k miles) and even though I had a full PPI with compression and leakdown test there is noticeable oil burning when started and quite a bit during idling even after a long drive. It's not overfilled and seems to be using a quart every thousand miles. I can't really see smoke when driving around even after acceleration after coming down a steep hill. I'm thinking this might be exhaust guides. Am I on track?

Steve thanks for the reply. I'm almost religious checking the oil level so I'm sure it's not high and I'm using Mobil 1 15w-50. Even though it's an 90 it's not leaking a whole lot since there's no drips in my garage but I'm thinking maybe this winter I'd like to do a top end rebuild. I live in SLC, UT can I call you about possibly getting this done this winter?
