Spot welded VIN?

This sounds like a bargain, but the VIN in my 79 is engraved on trunk floor. Am I missing something?

You aren't missing anything; this sounds like a pieced-together "Frankenstein" and one to avoid at all costs.

The VIN # on these cars is stamped in several places as well as the plate on the A-pillar fairing and this is a good way to confirm things.
