Postby slowcar » Mon Apr 02, 2018 6:23 am

I have been racing a 3.4 with 10.5 :1JE pistons, Ge 60 cams, PMO 45 carbs 1/58 headers.Twin Pluged, lightened fly wheel/ clutch, balanced . 5 x C/R gears, 2260 lb wet with driver.
I am wanting to gain mid to high range output 4000 to 7000 range. Using 104 Race gas, 30 Degrees all in
What is that max compression pistons available for 98mm mahle Cyl
What cam and exhaust GE80 ? 1/78 open exhaust. I have no class rules.
Many Thanks

Hi,

10.5:1 is it for Mahle pistons.

You will need to use a CP, JE, or whatever piston you like if more compression is desired (strongly recommended for any race engine).

Cam selection depends on many factors, some of which you've thoughtfully included. Driver experience/skill is also part of the equation as well as the track configurations you race on.

JMHO, but a 4K-7K engine is a street motor in my experience so if you are building a competition engine, you need more cam (narrower powerband), more CR (as you already know), and some oiling mods to the engine so its reliable above 7K RPM. I would also recommend aftermarket rods and bearings, too.
