Long Wheel Studs

Postby bstreck » Fri Mar 06, 2015 7:59 am

I am building a 1976 Targa "Hot Rod" and would like to install longer wheel studs. The car has the factory original Fuch's wheels, and will be using an O.E. type alloy lug nut, that has been machined with an open end. My concern is the threaded length of the longer wheel studs. Are there longer studs available that would allow the lug nut to properly seat onto the wheel, without using any wheel spacers? If not, are cutting threads on a longer wheel stud recommended, and can it be done by hand, using the proper thread cutting die, or should it be done on a lathe?

...different question, similar topic - what spacer is available in the 1/2" thick range (12-13 mm?), and what studs would be used for them? Would go on the rears.
