Steve, I hope I can bug you again with a related train of thought.

My car also has the rather infamous silver Permatune ignition box, which has been fine for the short time I've owned the car. However, I have read that its only a matter of time before the P-tune leaves me stranded. I also have lofty dreams about twin-plugging (and even EFI) but that is a ways into the future so I can justify a re-curve for the joy it brings in the meantime, as long as I'm not missing out on a more comprehensive solution or neglecting the weak link in the system.

Knowing this, would you suggest considering some different alternatives to distributor work?

Excellent, thanks Steve! :D

While we're on the good old slippery slope, is there an advantage on our cars to recurving the dizzy instead of using the programmable 6AL to setup a curve? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm learning. :)

Yes,..its really better to do this via the weights & springs, compared to changing rotor phasing, especially with these small caps and rotors. The MSD timing computers are bets suited for American domestic V-8's with their very large caps & rotors with wide tips their attendant wide spacing.

Steve, I sent you an email, let me know if it hasn't arrived.

There is much written about Permadoom ignition; blue is good, silver is bad they say. I had it in my head that mine was silver, but finally had a look to be sure, and lo and behold its black. Huh? Black? :?:

For the benefit of future readers, is this the more doom, less doom, or black maximum doom halloween version?
