Distributer recurve?

Postby sbmackie » Tue Nov 11, 2014 7:00 pm

Searched another popular board, and was pushed over here.

What exactly is a distributer recurve? Does it make any sense for an un modified 3.0 litre if one is looking for better low end grunt?

Thanks in advance.

Steve,
Thanks for your quick answer on the distributor recurve. Is it something that is done in the car, or do I pull it and send it to you or someone you recommend?

This is can only be done with a distributor machine. You'll need to remove it and send it to your person of choice who has one of these machines and knows how to do these Bosch units.

I can do this for you.

Hi Steve!

I'd like to reopen this topic to see if I should make the investment in a recurve also.

My car is a stock USA-spec SC, but has had a rebuild with 9:8:1 Euro pistons and SSI's. The CIS is in place and functioning well, and the vacuum lines appear to be in place on the dizzy. Other then that I don't know anything about which distributor it has, so I've posted a pic here. If I want to send it to you for a recurve, is it difficult to remove?

Not sure it matters, but for sake of discussion the decel valve is also capped off, and there is no lambda sensor in the exhaust. The car pops a lot on decel.

That sounds great to me!

What can I expect as a typical turn around time and cost for this? It may work best to send it to you a couple weeks before I come visit and just pick it up in person.

Works for me. I'll drop you an email to work out the details.

Reading up on the bird mascot forum it sounds like removing the dizzy is fairly straightforward, but if you have any tips we're all ears. :D

I'll be in touch.
