CV orientation

Postby Charles Freeborn » Wed Jul 30, 2014 8:16 pm

Are CV's directional? Meaning that my new (and old ones) have a shallow groove milled in the outer portion. Does it matter if this groove is facing towards the flange or away?
Car is a '74, but new running gear is from an '82

No, the outer one. I'll try to post a pic. In short, is there a top and bottom, or right and left facing? I don't remember how they came out.

Generally speaking, the CV's are unidirectional, however the groove on the splined axle is for the circlip which is positioned on the outer ends of the axle shaft.
