Throttle Coupler

Postby Charles Freeborn » Tue Oct 29, 2013 10:30 am

On the sage advice of Steve I swapped out my throttle coupler the other day.
The old one looks innocent enough when it's just sitting there. But give it a tug (which it is when you're driving) and another story emerges...

It's easy to see where the protective boot stopped and the weather was able to get at it.

In my car ("74) it's where the throttle linkage rod exits the tunnel / firewall and sits just above the transmission cross brace (which has to come out to get at it). On some cars it's inside the tunnel (better location) and is accessed through the little hatch that covers the shifter coupler.

If I recollect, the '76 & later cars had the improved, metal-cased version, however anyone with a mid-year 911 should check. You are dead on the road when the rubber ones break.
