Way off topic...

Postby ROWSC » Sun Sep 08, 2013 7:18 pm

My weed eater's gas line is just a plastic tube stuck through the bottom of the tank. Are there any adhesives that will hold the damn thing in place, prevent the fuel from seeping out around the hose, and not disintegrate in a month? When did lawn care start requiring a chemistry degree?

Thanks as always Steve,

No magic bullets here. The hose failed due to the current composition of gasolines and you should replace the line and/or tank as well.

Look for a gas station selling fuel without ethanol and use liberally use Marine Stabil to prevent the fuel from attacking plastic & rubber parts of the fuel system.

Maybe not so off topic after all.... Ethanol free gas is a good thing for old cars too. Here's a possible source to find it.

It's not legal for street use, but there are stations around marinas and agricultural areas that still sell it.

Maybe not legal where you are, but in Oregon it's legal for cars 25 years old or older.

Driving through LaGrande earlier this week I stopped for gas at a Shell that had a sign out advertising Ethanol free supreme. So it's out there...
