Anti-Seize Torque Specs

Postby cary » Sat May 25, 2013 5:15 pm

Good Evening Steve,

A question came up on torquing down heat exchangers.(914World)
They asked a question about torquing down the nuts when they're lathered up with anti-seize.
A comment was made that if you torqued it wet at 14 lbs. It would actually be 22-24 lbs.
Thoughts?

I've always followed your guidance and slobbered the crap out of the nuts. Then torqued them to spec.
They've always come off some I've never given it much thought.

I torque them to the same spec; wet or dry. :) :)

This is especially critical for applications where a Timesert is NOT present.
