FYI- Beware of GBox false claims -$$$ouch!

Postby # 37 » Sat May 11, 2013 7:41 am

Stay clear of GBox in Colorado.
They rebuilt my 915 trans and it blew 3rd gear after only one sprint and one enduro
less than a year after rebuild.
The trans leaked like a sieve when i got it back from them and their response was " this is common in
mag cased trans" [ which it is due to soft compound -which is true ].
It seeped from the previous builders' work but not as bad as it did after Gbox.
Get this, they took my $ 7700.00 and their response is- it is a race car so there are no warranties.
What a racket. Charge race shop prices, pretend to be in the racing bund, and then claim no
responsibility when it is raced! hahaha
Stay away from these wannabe hacks and let's put them back in the lawnmower business where they
belong!

$7,735.50 + removal and install at the shop ( .
Prior to that i spent $ 7,427.43 with a known reputable shop - that trans at least held up through 5 years of racing / 35 races ...
one can understand where i am leery to do anything at this point____
This magnesium case trans 915 is OEM with 275,000 miles all together on that case.
Thinkin' it's going to the smelter.

G50 conversion is even higher $$.

2 thoughts:
1.) After 35 races without failure I'd have returned to the same shop that did the first build. But I'm partial, as they're local boys...
2.) 1 race can kill anything. All it takes is one missed shift at speed while your arch nemesis is looming in the mirrors and it's all over. Even the pros do it.... 35 was a helluva run; be thankful.
