I recently changed the oil on my 911 SC and got the "hot flash" when I noticed plastic bits in the oil. The bits appear to be parts the timing chain ramps. The engine has 144K, and has not had a tensioner upgrade. Since we have to pass DEQ here in Oregon, I am considering a future VRam conversion as an upgrade while maintaining environmental compliance; hence, the rub. Should I forego a tensioner upgrade and replace the ramps and install tensioner locks until I can afford the VRam upgrade? Or, bite the bullet, and perform a tensioner upgrade and eat the additional cost when I convert to the VRam. Realistically, I'm about 2 years away from having the car ready for the conversion.
For now, the car sits in my garage awaiting it's fate.
