912 Sleeper

Reading about the 1966 912, I can't help but imagine how a 993 transplant would make it the ultimate sleeper. Does anyone make sticky enough rubber to keep the wheels connected to the road without sacrificing the skinny tire aesthetic? The looks one would get would be priceless.

Hi Rich,

Installing a 993 engine into an old 912 is a big big project and not for the faint of wallet.

With the original wheel/tire sizes, all you'd have is a "one-tire fire". :)

I've done this sort of thing with those short-wheelbase cars and a 3.6, however we installed some rear flares and a reasonable tire/wheel package to get some power down to the ground. With stock bodywork & wheels, its really a waste of $30-$35K. :)
