Replacement doors for 73

Postby Mark Wilson » Fri Feb 08, 2013 7:26 am

Annie's doors have some rust in the seam at bottom of the door and the R door has previous crash damage. I've not had luck finding really good period rust free units to replace them, so I bought a pair of nice dor shells from an 88. What can I expect to have to modify to get door pockets and hand crank windows to work. Annie is a 73S Targa with 69K miles that was mostly taken apart in mid 80's and kept in a dry west Texas garage, so no chassis rust anywhere! Thanks

Hi Mark,

The door pockets should be easy-peasy since that's all external. You may need to add some mounting holes for the early door panels.

I gotta scratch my head a bit since I've not retrofitted crank-up windows in late doors in several years. :) :)

Hi Mark,

I think ROW cars were available with wind-ups so this conversion will not be a problem. :)
