Miscellaneous Suspension Upgrades
This item will make setting precise corner weights and ride height much easier to do. Having the correct corner weight, ride height and rake on a 911/930 is the other "secret" to a superior handling car. These spring plates come with urethane bushings at the pivots to help minimize unwanted toe-changes caused by the deflection in the stock rubber bushings that contribute to trailing-throttle oversteer. Installing this kit gives you total control of rear height and corner weight with a 1/4" Allen wrench. Elephant Racing's Poly-Bronze greasable bushings are strongly recommended over the urethane ones that are supplied with the Weltmeister spring plates. Rennsport Systems also offers a custom modification to your Bilstein struts to RSR specification. This consists of raising the spindle to restore lost travel and reshaping the steering arms to minimize bump steer. Additionally, this raises the front roll center where it belongs to reduce body roll and maintain the proper relationship between front and rear roll centers. This simple spacer kit, installed under the steering rack, help correct the bump steer characteristics of a 911/930 when the car has been lowered from the factory ride height setting. This makes the car feel a little less "nervous" going down the road. The best-handling 911's have a great deal of time invested in fine-tuning the bump steer. This is one of the most important "secrets" in making the 911/930 handle well. Replacing the rubber bushings in the suspension with either Elephant Racing's Poly-Bronze or urethane ones really sharpens the handling of a 911/930 albeit at the expense of some ride quality. Poly-Bronze bushings in the front A-arms will help maintain your alignment under cornering loads and allow you to "feel" what the tires are doing much better than the rubber bushings that the Factory uses. The greasable Poly-Bronze ones are far superior to the urethane ones for ride quality and noise. Poly-Bronze bushings are strongly recommended for cars that are driven on the street, track or autocrossed frequently. Unless the roads where you live are truly in poor condition, we recommend these for multipurpose use. For all other cases, we use new Factory rubber-bushed A-arms. For stock rear spring plates, high quality rubber bushings from Neatrix are available to replace the OEM rubber ones or the superb Elephant Racing Poly-Bronze greasable ones. Any plastic bushings used for the front and rear suspension, sway bars, and factory spring plates on 911/930 series cars require machine work and hand-fitment for smoothest operation and come with special grease to maintain the least friction in the suspension.
These tie-rods eliminate the flex found in the stock tie-rods by replacing the rubber coupling with a spherical end. The kit is complete with Turbo tie-rods, new rubber boots, and spacers. This is an excellent upgrade for all 911's from 1969 to 1989. A front alignment will be necessary after installation. For the serious racer who needs the best suspension that money can buy, Rennsport Systems offers the 935-inspired racing suspension components from ERP. These cost-no-object components for 911/930, C2/C4, 993-series cars and the Boxster, represent the pinnacle of handling potential for these Porsches. All suspension motion moves on Heim joints or Monoballs. Without plastic bushings there is a large reduction in suspension friction which allows much greater car control and driver feedback on a bumpy track. ERP suspension systems use coil springs instead of torsion bars for less weight and fine tuning of wheel rates, corner weight, ride height, and alignment. We recommend a roll cage that ties all of the suspension pick-up points together to maximize the benefit for ERP suspension components. Some of these parts can be installed as individual upgrades or installed as a complete system for maximum gains. Please call for an individual consultation, application details and pricing. ERP 935-Style Complete Front Suspension This suspension system is constructed from 4130 Chrome-moly tubing, and nickel plated for durability and appearance. This allow full adjustability and requires coil-over shocks such as RSR struts. This a major weight saving due to lighter components and the loss of torsion bars. Two versions are offered, one uses the stock ball joint and the other version uses a racing ball joint from ERP.
These screw-on rod ends replace the factory tie-rod ends to facilitate spacing the tie-rod end up or down for fine adjustment of bump steer. This is extremely important in achieving a really good-handling car. Bump steer is time-consuming to measure and correct, the payoff is immense in making the car less tiring to drive and much more predictable. This kits comes with spherical tie-rod ends and spacers.
These items replace the factory spring plates when converting from torsion bar suspension to coil-overs. These are alloy steel, nickel plated pieces that have spherical rod-ends instead of plastic bushings at the pivot to eliminate friction from the suspension. Toe adjustment is provided by the threaded rod-end. The elimination of friction makes setting the corner weights more precise due to lack of friction that is present in all plastic bushings. C2/C4 Rear Spring Plates These components replace the factory spring plates and exchange the rubber bushings at the pivots with solid monoballs for zero deflection. Additionally, they allow more precise alignment adjustment of toe settings. This is a cartridge that is installed at the inner(body) end of the trailing arms, also called the bananas. This eliminates the rubber bushing normally found here to reduce un-wanted toe changes caused by the flex in the factory bushing. This makes the car more predictable under throttle and brake transitions. There is a corresponding reduction in friction as well.
Miscellaneous ERP Suspension Components Front A-arm Mono-ball Cartridges: For C2/C4 and 993: These parts replace the rubber bushings found at the A-arm pivots. This eliminates suspension friction and maintains toe-settings under hard braking and acceleration. For C2/C4 and 993: These parts replace the rubber bushings in the trailing arms of the C2/C4 series and the A-arms in the 993 series. The C2/C4 (964)series also require a mounting kit for initial installation. The eliminates suspension friction and toe changes under braking and acceleration forces. This is most noticeable under transitions in corner entry and exit. < These rear monoballs replace the rubber bushings in the rear control arms to remove all rear suspension deflection under cornering loads and power applications. This makes the car easier to control and helps put the power to the ground more efficiently. On racing tires, the rear end of the car is much more predictable. Boxster Monoball Replacement Bearings These bearings replace the rubber bushings for the same benefits as the 911/993-series cars. The car is much easier to drive, near and at the limit, due to zero-suspension deflection and makes the application of power more predictable. These bearings will transmit more road noise into the car. We carry racing seats and harnesses from the following manufacturers: |
